Almost two thirds (64%) of organisations are now using e-recruitment, according to a recent survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The CIPDís Annual Recruitment and Retention Conference 2006 will give delegates the opportunity to hear how other organisations have made online recruitment work.
The following speakers will discuss how they have used technology to help recruit people, at the CIPD conference today:
Paul Awcock, Head of HR, Norwich Union
Jane Basley, Head of Retail Resourcing and Development, Sainsburyís
CIPD research also shows that despite almost half (47%) of organisations agreeing that e-recruitment will replace paper based applications in the future, the same number believe online recruitment is increasing the number of unsuitable applicants.
Paul Awcock, Head of HR at Norwich Union, says, ìTargeting the right people is a must ñ we worked closely with our advertising supplier to explore the best on-line channels to communicate our vacancies to market. Our selection process (on-line and telephone based) is also very thorough and de-selects unsuitable candidates as early in the process as possible.î
Norwich Union saved 2.3 million on recruitment in 2005 and at least 50% of that was as a direct result of the on-line recruitment strategy. Paul Awcock says, ìWhile online recruitment has helped save costs we continue to support an integrated approach to recruitment, which includes the ability for candidates to make paper based applications. This avoids unfair discrimination and limits the risk of losing potentially good candidates.î
