CIPD Certificates help HR recruit the right people and develop techniques to get the most from their staff

Research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) suggests that people are an organisationís most important asset. Employers must select the most suitable person for the job through excellent recruitment practices and retain them using good people management techniques.

CIPD has developed two certificate programmes that will provide HR professionals with the skills needed to recruit the most suitable candidate for the job, and the people management and development techniques to achieve high performance ñ the CIPD Certificate in Recruitment and Selection and the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice.

Rebecca Clake, CIPD Organisation and Resourcing Adviser, says, ìIt is important to get the recruitment and selection process right if employers are to get the most suitable person on board. But low unemployment combined with a strong economy has left employers fighting over a small number of potential recruits and facing real difficulties getting the right people into the right jobs.

ìThe relationship employees have with their immediate boss has a direct impact on employee engagement and retention. Good personnel practices can encourage line managers to form positive relationships with staff to improve the performance of a team and encourage personal development.î

The CIPD is holding an open evening for prospective students of the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice and the CIPD Certificate in Recruitment and Selection, on Wednesday 21 September 2005.

The open evening will allow interested individuals to talk to tutors and past students and discover how the programmes can be applied to some of the workplaceís most challenging situations. Guests are encouraged to bring their managers or work colleagues with them so that they gain a more thorough understanding of what the certificate students will learn.
