Ceridian, Allstate, Deloitte, IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Texas Instruments Launch Backup Elder & Childcare Service
Ceridian, a company in managed human resource solutions that maximize the value of people, has developed a new, Web-based Backup Care Locator to help employees gain instant access to more than 20,000 names and the contact information for alternative caregiver resources nationwide to call on when their regular childcare providers or elder care services are not available.
Allstate, Deloitte, IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Texas Instruments, as members of the American Business Collaboration (ABC), funded the development of this new program and made it available to their employees on April 6. The ABC and Ceridian collaborated with the Family & Workplace Connection to identify childcare providers and elder care services with the capacity to deliver backup caregivers. The Backup Care Locator is national in scope and includes caregiver resources for children and elders, in addition to well-care and mildly ill care.
The ABC has always been known for its innovative approach to addressing the dependent care needs of employees, said Betty Purkey, manager, Work/Life Programs, Texas Instruments. The introduction of the Backup Care Locator builds on the years of research and development of backup care programs that the ABC has supported. This online tool gives parents and employee caregivers an important resource to help them find and choose the backup care they need, when they need it.
Using the Backup Care Locator, employees can search for backup caregivers in their communities. The locator provides employees with profiles of alternative childcare providers and elder care services. A wide array of caregiver resources will be accessible, including childcare centers, family childcare providers, facilities that care for mildly ill children, in-home care agencies for children and elders, adult day care and assisted living facilities, and off-hours providers for weekends and evenings.
Ceridian collaborated in this effort to help people manage the unexpected occurrences in their lives so they can keep their families strong while maintaining productivity in their jobs, says Linda Laitner, senior vice president, Ceridian EAP and work-life services.
Ceridian, which provides organizational and employee effectiveness services for companies, including elder care management services, will make its database of backup caregiver resources available to all of its EAP and work-life services customers at the end of an introductory pilot period for the funding companies.
