Careerjunction launches new online candidate screening technology

careerjunction.co.za

CareerJunction has launched Prof!ler. This competency-based assessment technology consists of three processes wrapped into one solution: Job Profiling, Candidate Filtering and Candidate Screening.

The Internet has been a great boom to the recruitment industry, but the increased volume of applicants has been tempered by concerns over quality of candidates. Enter competency-based e-recruitment and CareerJunctionís
ProF!ler tool. ProF!ler assesses three core candidate competencies:

behavioural (personal characteristics required for a certain position), functional (skills or expertise needed) and motivational factors (acting as the link between the two other competencies and assessing whether a
candidate will be motivated to perform in their job,). ìIn other words,î
says Kris Jarzebowski, MD of CareerJunction, ìcompetency-based assessments define what a client needs the applicant to do, what the applicant actually can do, what drives the applicant to do it, and what level of intelligence
and decision making is required to get the job done.î

Jarzebowski comments further, ìCareerJunction has always been committed to developing new products for the recruiter and has developed over 300 new product enhancements in the last year. The launch of ProF!ler completes the
next logical step in the development of online recruitment technology and further entrenches CareerJunction as the #1 online recruitment service provider in the Country..î So how does it work? If a Job Profile is linked to a job ad, additional information will be displayed assisting
careerseekers in assessing themselves before applying for the job. With Candidate Filtering, careerseekers answer multiple-choice questions instead of entering a cover note. These answers are then matched to the requirements
of the Job Profile and the results sent both to the applicant and recruiter via e-mail. ìWhile successfully-filtered applicants are e-mailed to the recruiter, the unsuccessful applicants are not lost,î says Jarzebowski.
Candidate screening contains a list of specific questions that the recruiters wish to ask the candidates. The screening process also involves a comprehensive report outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the candidate.

ìThe benefits to recruiters are enormous,î says Jarzebowski. ìUsing Prof!ler increases the probability of filling a position more accurately; reduces the
workload per position and speeds up turnaround times at each stage of the recruitment process. The net result is an increase in the number of positions that can be effectively processed at any given time. It assists in defining and profiling job requirements with the recruiterís clients,
assesses applicant competencies and motivational drivers up front, thereby delivering high-match candidates and structuring interviews better. The management and activity reports for each job will assist recruiters with
client communication and, a big advantage, using Prof!ler means compliance with current legislation through consistency of assessment and the non-discriminatory nature of the product.î

Prof!ler also shows significant benefits for clients and candidates. Since the candidate is pre-screened online, as well as receiving ongoing feedback from the system, he or she will always know what is required and will
constantly be informed of their position in the selection process. For the client, an employee can be sourced with greater speed, workload from the clientís side is reduced and the interview process can be conducted using
the same requirements and competencies as laid out in the job profile. This is key considering that the typical interview is one of the least reliable forms of appraisal.

ìThe cost of hiring an employee is extremely expensive and choosing the wrong person for the job is even more costly,î says Jarzebowski. ìCompanies need to ensure that they are using objective and valid methods of assessing candidates so that they get the right person for the job, someone who will be happy in their job and will perform in the position.î
