Review demonstrates continued commitment to accessibility and diversity

BSkyB has published today its third annual Corporate Responsibility Review, with an emphasis on integrating corporate responsibility into all areas of the business.

The Review is in the form of letters to stakeholders including customers, colleagues, the community, suppliers and shareholders, and also reviews Skyís environmental impacts. Key highlights from the year to 30 June 2004 include:

-Creating a new elected employee forum which will meet with the management team and Chief Executive regularly to discuss Skyís strategic priorities

-Winning Best Scottish Call Centre Workplace 2004 for promoting a healthy work/life balance

-Launching a talent search to find future TV presenters from within Sky

-Re-launching the Code of Conduct and Whistleblowing Policy

-Formulating a two-year plan to address every aspect of health and safety across the group

-Developing nationally-recognised courses for Sky people to study

-Launching an advice line for disabled people interested in a career at Sky

-Launching a new Fair and Equal Treatment Policy to cover all areas of diversity

The Review announces that Sky has established a Corporate Responsibility Steering Committee chaired by an independent Non-Executive Director, Gail Rebuck. Senior executives, including the Chief Executive, have been meeting quarterly to review Corporate Responsibility issues.

Ben Stimson, Skyís Head of Corporate Responsibility said: ìThe Review is designed to help people understand more about the business and demonstrate the progress we have made. There is still a considerable amount to do but the commitments in this Review give us clear goals to aim for.î
