fish4jobs reveals the top 10 office crimes

Never mind stressful workloads and long working hours, the main offenders in the British workplace are your colleagues, as over half of us (51%) admit disruptive co-workers are pushing us to consider a new career path. In fact, 84% of British workers confess to being driven to distraction, with smelly (59%), noisy (44%) and rude (10%) workers topping their office offenders roll of shame.

This is according to a report published today, from fish4jobs (www.fish4jobs.co.uk ), the UKís leading recruitment website, which reveals that the little things in the office are becoming big concerns for the UK workforce.

Fish4jobs top 10 office roll of shame:

Skipping the shower ñ Around two thirds (59%) said poor personal hygiene was the worst sin that colleagues could commit

Holler holler holler - Shouting in the office and generally making a racket winds almost half of us up (44%)

Being left penless ñ Over a third (35%) of people surveyed cited stealing stationary as their colleagues most annoying habit

Causing technical meltdown - Crashing email systems by sending huge attachments around the entire company sent a third of those surveyed running for the door (31%)

Cooking-up a pong ñ Insisting on re-heating last nightís smelly dinner annoys almost a quarter of workers (22%)
A right mess ñ 15% of people surveyed said colleaguesí messy desks made the whole office look like a dump!

Click, click, click ñ Constant pen clicking drives over one in ten of us insane (14%)

Fíing and blinding! ñ One in ten (10%) of us are seriously put off by foul language

Cracking knuckles ñ Weird personal habits like cracking knuckles and tapping feet infuriate around one in ten (9%) of Brits

Stealing suppers ñ Nabbing from the fridge makes 7% of those surveyed very angry


The fish4jobs report also highlights just how angry the UK workforce has become as a result. Over a third of workers confess to getting so frustrated that they feel their only option is to complain to a member of management (36%). However, these complaints seem to fall on deaf ears, with almost two fifths (18%) feeling they are being completely ignored, some staff even feel blamed for speaking their mind (6%).

However it isnít the minor issues that send workers running for the door, but larger problems that are only made worse by a colleagueís irritating behaviour. Be honest ñ If your colleagueís pen clicking is driving you round the bend then tell them; chances are they wonít have even realised they are doing it

Talk to the management ñ If it isnít something you feel you can confront your colleague about then talk to their line manager; they should be sympathetic to your complaint and remedy the action

Behave like you want others to behave ñ If people sending multi megabyte emails frustrates you beyond belief, then donít do it yourself! Look at how you behave in the office and make sure you are not guilty of committing any of the sins that you moan about your colleagues doing
