Britons wonít take slow for an answer

New research reveals life in the fast lane is still not a reality for most

New research* commissioned by Nurofen Express ñ a new range of painkillers which target pain twice as fast as standard Nurofen Tablets (ibuprofen) ñ exposes the UK as a nation regularly yearning for daily activities to speed up, with 86% of the population wishing things could happen twice as fast.

More than one in three people felt that pop stars and showbiz types are paving the way with their high octane lifestyles, with Amy Winehouse, Paris Hilton, Richard Branson, and celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham nominated as the top five personalities living their lives in the fast lane.

The most impatient professionals in the UK are those working in the finance industry ñ almost 70% of them say theyíd like things to get done twice as fast all the time. Washing your hair is most hated by HR professionals (31%), DIY is most disliked by the IT and telecoms profession (36%) and exercising by those in finance (33%). But people working in the retail, catering and leisure industry are the most likely to want to speed up sex.

Top five professions living their lives in the fast lane:

1. Pop stars
2. City traders
3. Emergency workers
4. Racing drivers
5. Chefs

But in the real world, some of the biggest frustrations for us are travel related, with over 60% of consumers requesting a ëfast laneí to speed their daily journeys to work, on the school run, in stations and in airports. Whatís more, over half of people who work in the travel and transport industry even said theyíd like to complete their journeys twice as fast!

Household chores (65%) and food shopping (36%) are also in need of some Express treatment along with travelling, as these were the top three activities that consumers would like to get done twice as fast. In fact, supermarkets have been voted as another favourite place for implementing a ëfast laneí, and over half said they would like super quick aisles needed to fast-track the dreaded weekly shop.

Surprisingly, the nationís need for speed goes as far as the bedroom too, with 3% of women claiming that they would even like having sex to finish twice as fast!

It was the younger generation that chose exercise as one of their favourite activities to speed up. Almost half of 16-24 year olds said theyíd like physical activity to be over and done with in half the time, compared to only 18% of over 55s. Coupled with almost one quarter of youngsters specifying theyíd like a ëfast laneí in their local fast food restaurant, this provides an interesting insight into the nationís future wellbeing.

The research has been commissioned to coincide with the launch of Nurofen Express. Nurofen Express not only provides the effective pain relief you expect from Nurofen but it also targets pain quickly to ensure pain doesnít get in the way of your busy day ñ ensuring that at least one thing in life can be twice as fast.
