British public says no to digital television

According to survey by Mediaedge:CIA

The Guardian reports that public resistance to digital television in the UK is growing, despite the UK governmentís plan to turn off the analogue TV signal in 2010.

According to a survey carried out by Mediaedge:CIA, 29 percent of respondents say they would never switch from analogue. This compares to just 21 percent who said the same in October.

Older people show the strongest resistance to digital television with 60 percent of those aged 65 or older saying they would never make the switch from analogue.

The study also indicates that the number of respondents planning to adopt digital TV has fallen 4 percent to 9 percent over the last seven months, while the number of people prepared to pay for digital television has declined by 17 percent since January 1999.
