Beyond.com, Inc., the largest niche career network for business professionals, released its First Quarter 2007 Career Trends Analysis and Industry Outlook Reports. The reports indicated that Information Technology was the top industry for online job postings, representing 13.66% of all jobs posted in first quarter 2007 across the Beyond.com Network of more than 15,000 career sites. Healthcare and Medical (12.79%) and Sales and Sales Management (12.49%) rounded out the top three positions, each exhibiting strong job growth over the previous quarter.

An upward trend was also noted among IT candidates with less than one year of work experience. Rich Milgram, CEO of Beyond.com, Inc. reported that this pool of candidates, representing almost 14% of all IT job seekers across the Beyond.com Network, has been gaining momentum with the approach of the May graduation season. Furthermore, data indicates that many states in the Mid-Atlantic region are showing a strong concentration of IT candidates, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Beyond.com also recognized that entry-level IT candidates expect to earn between $34,000 and $67,000. ìPlan to budget on the higher end of the spectrum for candidates with specialized skills, as salaries in IT are expected to rise throughout 2007,î stated Milgram. ìEmployers should prepare to accommodate the emerging corporate culture and salary expectations of talented grads. Companies will also be targeting and quickly hiring IT candidates with additional knowledge of fundamental business concepts, including the impact of technology operations on corporate growth and the bottom line.î
