With additional research showing that millions of workers are likely to start searching for new roles in January, employers who offer the right package of perks can keep their employees loyal and motivated heading into the new year.
Perks are also considered as an important incentive for employees to work from the office more often. 43% said that expanded perks would encourage them to go back, with 38% saying that commuter benefits - where travel to and from work is subsidised by their employer - in particular would help.
In-office meals are another perk appreciated by employees, but many would prefer more flexibility in ordering their own lunch. While 85% said that their office lunches are provided through a catering service, 47% said that they would prefer to choose which outlet their food came from.
“In the new year, a lot of people start questioning whether their job is offering them what they need. While pay and flexibility are top priorities for most, the perk package can be an important differentiator,” said Andrew Laughlan, Head of Enterprise UK at Uber for Business. “If people are required to work outside standard hours, support with the journey to and from their workplace can make a huge difference. And if you’re working into the evening, sometimes the traditional pizza just isn’t going to cut it. Employees want choice - and the companies that offer it will be in the best position to have their own choice of employee.”
Uber for Business recently announced that business users can claim a year’s free subscription to Uber’s paid-for membership service, Uber One. This gives them discounts on personal trips, free food deliveries, exclusive offers and more.
