While most people are worrying about the weather this bank holiday Brit bosses need to make sure their staff are as happy as possible before they go off for their bank holiday break or risk losing them upon return.
Research by Monster.co.uk has revealed that almost half of UK workers are likely to look for a new job after that extra day off, 735 respondents were questioned and 49% responded that a bank holiday would make them more likely to look for a new job with 33% responding that they would definitely plan to job search.
According to Monsterís life coach Jenny Ungless: ì People use their weekends to recover from the week at work, catch up with chores, see friends etc, the bank holiday Monday gives them that extra day to take stock and consider issues such as job satisfaction, career progression etc.î
Employers need to make sure their staff start their bank holiday in a positive frame of mind, even giving them an early finish on the Friday for those with travel plans. This act of good will costs the employer little and will help staff to feel valued and ensure they come back from the long weekend refreshed and energised rather than ready to job hunt.
