Bradford-based executive search and selection consultancy, Barnes Kavelle, has used its international network to help UK renewable energy specialists, Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd, to continue its expansion programme in North America and Canada.
Formed in 1853, Gilkes posted its best ever results in 2008 on the back of strong international demand for its innovative hydro turbines and diesel engine cooling pumps.
To capitalise on this success the company, which has its head office in Kendal, commissioned Barnes Kavelle to help with its overseas recruitment programme via Cornerstone, a network of independent consultants with almost 100 offices worldwide.
Barnes Kavelle used its Cornerstone associate in Winnipeg to recruit a technical commercial manager and its associate in Houston to appoint a sales manager for Gilkesí Texas facility.
In addition, Barnes Kavelle has been asked to recommend a non-executive director to join the Gilkesí board to assist with future strategy.
Commenting on the latest appointments Gilkesí managing director, Nick Pike, said,
ìWe have known Barnes Kavelle for many years and we are delighted it can introduce us to similarly professional practices in North America.
ìBefore we were aware of the Cornerstone network our international hiring had been haphazard and frankly poor. We now know we can rely on Cornerstone, via Barnes Kavelle, as we review our growth plans in other parts of the world.î
Speaking about Cornerstone, director of Barnes Kavelle Ian Day, said,
ìFollowing a rigorous selection process, we were delighted and honoured to be chosen as an associate of Cornerstone in the UK. It is great to be working with so many high calibre teams across the world and we are already enjoying a growing number of mutually beneficial assignments.î
