Angel Human Resourcing recognised for heavenely age practices

Angel Human Resourcing has been recognised by the Government for its exemplary approach to tackling workplace age discrimination

Recruitment agency, Angel Human Resourcing, has been recognised by the Government for its exemplary approach to tackling workplace age discrimination. The agency has been awarded íAge Positive Employer Championí status by the Age Positive campaign, a Department for Work and Pensions initiative, spearheaded by Malcolm Wicks, Minister for Pensions.

Fiona Macpherson, Branch Manager at Angel Human Resourcing, said: There is a real shortage of skilled workers and employers are missing out on the skills that older and younger employees have to offer. Thankfully more employers are recruiting people on the basis of the skills they have, rather than how old they are.

Angel Human Resourcing encourage employers to look beyond a candidateís age and embrace the concept of ílifelong learningí, meaning that people continue picking up new skills at every stage in their life.

The campaign works with employers across Great Britain to promote the business benefits of age diversity in the workplace ahead of new EU legislation will make age discrimination in the workplace illegal from 2006.

Being Age Positive has had an extremely positive impact on our ability to meet our clientís needs. Some candidates feel they cannot get a job because theyíre over 50 but thatís just not the case as their skills are needed. All employers, no matter what size should start implementing age friendly policies, concluded McGee.

Age Positive has awarded Employer Champion status to over 100 organisations that have successfully implemented age positive working practices. Champions play a vital role in the Age Positive campaign by tackling age discrimination in their own workplace and highlighting the practical business benefits of having a mixed age workforce.

Age Positive has developed a free guide, A Practical Guide For Business to help employers with good practice in employment from recruitment and selection, promotion and training and development right through to retirement.
