Alternative Networks finds Another Solution to HR Problems

Alternative Networks has upgraded its HR software from Snowdrop and bought Snowdrop's U-Access and Spring modules to smooth HR processes and improve data management.

Alternative Networks currently employs over 430 people across four UK sites (London, Reading, Manchester and Leeds), with HR managed centrally from its head office in London. The HR team comprises 5 personnel who are responsible for HR and Recruitment throughout the company.

Alternative Networks originally inherited the Snowdrop applications via an acquisition. As part of the acquisition, the HR team took the opportunity to review Snowdrop and ascertain how Snowdrop could further assist in supporting the HR function. By upgrading to Snowdrop version 5.3, HR felt that it could significantly increase efficiencies and ensure more sophisticated data storage, whilst taking advantage of enhanced reporting abilities.

U-Access (employee and line manager self-service) and Spring (recruitment administration) will allow greater consolidation of personnel and recruitment data. Additionally U-Access will promote employee ownership of HR data that assists in devolving responsibility across the organisation. Melanie Hayden, HR Manager for Alternative Networks, anticipates that the biggest and most valuable saving will be eradicating the bulk of administrative labour intensive functions. She comments: By reducing the paper trail HR will be freed up for further development and greater emphasis on projects - a benefit we value very highly.
