Ajilon UK charity fundraising makes positive impact

Staff working across the Ajilon group of companies have raised over 16,000 for their charity of the year, Leukaemia Research

Staff working across the Ajilon group of companies have raised over 16,000 for their charity of the year, Leukaemia Research. The charity was nominated as the main focus for fundraising in 2005 by staff who work across the eight brands within the group which includes Office Angels, Computer People and Jonathan Wren.

The funds raised have been donated to Leukaemia Research, the only national research charity devoted exclusively to leukaemia and related blood disorders in both children and adults. The charity supports doctors and scientists at hospitals and academic institutions throughout the country and funds a wide range of projects, from basic laboratory research to clinical trials with patients.

Sarah El-Doori, Marketing Director for Ajilon UK, said: ìWeíve had great support from all our employees and weíve been impressed at the high level of involvement in fundraising across the group. We hope our contribution will go towards helping Leukaemia Research continue their good work.î

Cathy Gilman, Director of Fundraising at Leukaemia Research, said: ìWeíre delighted to receive the donation from Ajilon UK; employees showed great enthusiasm raising money for our charity. Their efforts will make a real difference to the lives of the men, women and children throughout the UK who are currently battling against blood cancers.î

Ajilon employees have been voting for their 2006 charity of the year and have selected Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Staff across the group are already planning a host of fundraising activities to raise money for the charity ñ which will go towards funding research and education to fighting breast cancer.

Peter Reynolds, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said: ìWeíre really pleased to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by Ajilon employees. Over 41,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, making it the number one health concern for women in this country. This is why the fundraising efforts of Ajilon employees is essential to help us to continue our vital research and education work.
