Airline Pilots Jobs.com - the world's leading job board for people seeking work in the airline industry - is bucking the trend in a gloomy economic climate after recording record visitors last month.
According to new figures the number of pilots turning to the website - run by the Simply Jobs Boards group - has risen a staggering 52 per cent in the past month.
The figures reflect the growing uncertainty in the airline industry which has been particularly badly hit by the global economic downturn.
They are also testament to the growing reputation of Airlinepilotsjobs.com among pilots seeking work and recruiters looking for top quality candidates to fill their posts.
Ian Partington, managing director of Airlinepilotsjobs.com, said: ''The airline industry has been particuarly badly affected by the recession and, as a consequence, thousands more people every month are turning to Airlinepilotsjobs.com to find them work.
''Our website is the world's leading job board for pilots. It is easy to navigate and gives them instant access to scores of jobs with clients across the world. They in turn rely on and trust us to find them quality candidates for their vacancies.
''It is no coincidence that our success at placing pilots in new jobs has filtered down through the industry and enhanced our reputation, which is fuelling a rapid rise in visitor numbers each month.''
The airline industry has been a serious casualty of the global recession, with falling passenger numbers causing many carriers to slash jobs in a bid to survive.
Over the past week alone BA has announced plans to cut 1200 posts, while the new chief of Bmi said a quarter of his staff would have to go as part of a restructuring plan. The airline lost around 100million last year and this year's results are set to be even worse.
