15 Jobs With The Highest Divorce Rates in 2020

In terms of living standards, current societies are doing better than ever in our evolutionary history, but modernity comes with its challenges to overcome.

The hectic schedules and excessive stress can turn modern working lifestyles into a living nightmare. And the stress often pulls us apart from each other. Therefore, it is not that surprising when work is responsible for creating trouble in marriages. Often, the standard of living your job helps you to maintain is not enough to save your relationship.

There is a lot of wisdom out there about what exactly leads to a divorce. Reasons are not all that clear or cut and dry, as specifics vary across age and demographics. However, job or career remains the single most prominent factor affecting whether or not you can sustain your marriage for long. Of course, every couple is different and has their reasons for breaking-off with each other, however, some careers are more capable than others in bringing you to the brink of divorce.

Online Divorce provided us with a list of 15 jobs that are most likely to push your marriage over the edge.

1. Gaming Managers

It is not instantly clear why gaming managers have such a hard time holding on to their partners. However, the data shows a high divorce rate of about 52.9% among gaming managers. A broad guess can be made about factors such as the high risk, high reward nature of the gaming business. Also the atmosphere is usually one of gambling and partying, which does not help either. Being on the inside of such a peculiar money-mindedness may be a cause for marital turbulence. The same is true for casino workers, who also experience a high rate of divorce.

2. Bartenders

Bartending is interesting. On the surface, it is a low paying job, however, there is a lot to earn in tips if you have the skills. And by skills, it is not strictly pouring drinks that we are talking about here. It is a very social atmosphere. There is a lot of flirting that goes down as a part of the work. Bartenders are often pouring drinks and making small talk with strangers, which makes them extremely confident in their approach towards people. It is easy for their partners to feel insecure in their relationships. And of course, sometimes it is not just an illusion. Bartenders work at odd hours, which makes them more likely to cheat on their partners. Infidelity is often the nail in the coffin when it comes to marriages. And that explains the divorce rate among bartenders, which is 52.7%.

3. Flight attendants

The nature of this job is such that it requires constant traveling. Flight attendants often spend months and months away from their homes and families. It usually is a challenge for any spouse to keep it together if their partner is spending so much time away from them. No doubt, the divorce rate is as high as 50.5% among people in the aviation industry.

4. Telemarketers

Thus we see these miserable statistics surround these sorts of jobs.

This job comes with its perks. Some clients are generous if they happen to form an affinity with the technique of a particular masseuse. However, there are a lot of physical and emotional grey areas, where this affinity can cross lines, leading to marital discord. The nature of the job itself can serve as a trigger for their partners' insecurity and suspicion. Trust is alright to talk about, however, it may turn difficult for some spouses to let their partners touch someone else, even though it is part of their job. Considering all these scenarios paint a clear picture as to why the divorce rate is so high for massage therapists at 47.8%.

7. Nurses and Caregivers

8. Performing artists and Entertainers

Artistic and creative talent is rare. People who succeed in earning a living from it are even more so. A few are fortunate enough to taste real success and fame. Those few have access to more wealth and resources, allowing them access to more luxuries, not just materially but in terms of choices, as well. Successful actors and musicians may choose to not work on a film or a project, or a tour, that will keep them away from home for long. However, many others do not have a choice. To earn a livelihood, they are forced to spend time away from family, causing strain in relationships.

For instance, many back-up dancers and choreographers travel all over the world with artists. They are sometimes away from their home and families for months on end. This takes an emotional and psychological toll on them. The same is true for other entertainers, such as stand-up comics, who constantly tour and do shows to hone their comedy skills and routines. Lesser known artists, who are struggling to make a name for themselves, often are also paid very little. This just adds insult to injury.

A dancer’s work is physically demanding, as well. Performing complex choreographies for a long time, many dancers experience injuries and deformities, with which they are sometimes stuck for life. It is a very dismal state for anyone to live in, no matter how passionate one is towards the art they practice. So, it is not surprising that artists and entertainers are on this list with a divorce rate of 46.8%.

Working in a casino, people often find it hard to sustain their marriage. Gaming cage workers are tasked with operating slot machines, deal cards and payout winnings. 13. Baggage porters and concierges

Divorce rates among baggage porters also show a considerably high percentage of 28.49%. It is pretty consistent with the figures seen usually in the hospitality industry. The reasons for discord are similar as well. Long shifts, less time with family and less pay.

14. Roofers

Thus, there are plenty of circumstances for housekeeping workers to feel stressed and frustrated in their lives, which may play a role in pushing their marriage over the edge.

Looking at this list it can be surmised that there are plenty of jobs out there, with pretty obvious limitations. And they are likely to affect the well-being of the marriage. It is crucial to take note of these evident drawbacks while selecting a career path. Because it can make a difference when it comes to maintaining a long and healthy relationship with your spouse.
