David Hurst founded DH Publishing Ltd in 1999, to provide HR Directors and recruiters with information on the online recruitment market. The company now creates forums of discussion, by sharing information online, in print and in person with conferences around the world, bringing experts and practitioners together to discuss and exchange information.


Nicky Ivory-Chapman MCIPD, Reputation & Resourcing Manager, McDonald’s UK

Nicky is the Reputation and Resourcing Manager for McDonald’s UK, responsible for Recruitment, Employer Brand, Uniforms and the employee lifestyle and learning website across 1200 UK restaurants. Nicky has spent all her adult life at McDonald’s.  Joining as a part-time employee in 1993 and spending the first 10 years in Restaurant Operations managing various restaurants in the West End of London. Following a 3 year secondment in HR Operations, and with the arrival of David Fairhurst as the new HRD, Nicky was selected to join the newly formed Reputation team in 2006 and took on a new dual role of resourcing and employer reputation. Laura Stoker, Executive Director of Global Training, AIRS

Laura Stoker began her recruiting career as a researcher for executive search firms working on international and domestic projects. She has also worked as a Recruiter for J.D. Edwards in Denver, Colorado and as a Technical Recruiter for EMDS in Brussels, Belgium. She has been using AIRS techniques since she attended one of our first training classes in 1997 and now enjoys teaching the same knowledge to a new generation of Internet Recruiters.


Barry Cullen, Partner, Recruitment & Resourcing Services, Cramer Pelmont LLP

Barry Cullen, solicitor, recruitment specialist and partner with responsibility for Recruitment & Resourcing Sector services for Cramer Pelmont LLP, has been part of the recruitment industry for over 12 years, both as recruiter and advisor. Barry focuses his understanding of the industry, its key players and the pressures affecting them so as to increase profitability and maximise business value as part of an exit strategy on behalf of recruitment industry clients. The Cramer Pelmont LLP team tackle all the usual legal nuts and bolts faced by recruitment agencies. Barry’s career began as a resourcer with Huxley Associates, in the late ‘90s before joining another London agency where he recruited for senior IT positions into financial institutions for three and a half years. Subsequently he established, operated and sold a niche legal recruitment agency before turning to the law.


Dr Liz Berkin, Royal College of Physicians 

Liz Berkin has been involved with recruitment of all grades of doctors for over 20 years and seen considerable change. Following the well-publicised failure of a national recruiting process in 2007, she became involved with the development of an on-line recruitment system. The Royal College of Physicians now runs a trusted, respected and efficient online recruitment system for 18 medical specialties, handling over 4000 applications annually. Liz Berkin has been involved with recruitment of all grades of doctors for over 20 years and seen considerable change.  Racheal King, Group Recruitment Manager, Jurys Inn Group Ltd 

After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a BA Hons in Tourism Management, I was accepted onto the Jurys Doyle Graduate Programme (Class of 2004) where I worked for 9 months in operations in Jurys Inn Birmingham and 9 months in HR in Jurys Inn Southampton. I was fortunate enough to progress within the company, reaching HR Manager level in 2006. I left the business in 2008 and continued to develop my HR career (Recruitment & Training Officer at Merlin Studios, part of the Merlin Entertainments Group and HR Business Partner at Charteris Plc, IT & Business Solutions). I also completed my CIPD qualification in 2008 and became a Chartered member in 2010. I returned to Jurys Inn in July 2011 in my current role within the Group HR team and have recently completed my Masters Degree in Human Resources Management.


Paul Harrison, Managing Partner, Carve Consulting

Paul is Managing Partner of Carve Consulting LLP, a social business advisory practice. Carve has designed and implemented corporate social networking strategies for a range of public, private and not for profit organisations. Carve has significant expertise in the recruitment arena, advising both corporate and agency resourcing teams through strategy design, research, training and managed services.
