Recruitment Spotlight: Simplifying Recruitment Tech: Rectec CEO Rob Green on Launching Copilot and the Future of Smarter Software Buying

Rob Green is the Founder and CEO of Rectec, the recruitment technology comparison and intelligence platform designed to simplify how organisations choose, implement, and optimise recruitment software. With more than 20 years’ experience in recruitment and talent technology, Rob has built his career around helping businesses make smarter, data-driven decisions that improve hiring outcomes.

Q. For those who may not know you - can you give us a quick overview of Rectec and what inspired you to start it?

Rob Green: Rectec was founded to change software buying forever. We help employers and recruitment agencies navigate the complexity of the recruitment tech market, ensuring they can find and implement the right tools for their organisation. Having spent years in recruitment technology, I saw first hand how difficult and time consuming software buying can be, and how often businesses end up with the wrong fit. Rectec was created to simplify that journey.=

Q. You’ve just launched Rectec Copilot - congratulations! Can you tell us what Copilot is and how it fits into the broader Rectec ecosystem?

RG: Thank you! Rectec Copilot is our newest solution, creating highly matched, tailored recommendations to each organisation’s needs. Copilot has replaced Rectec Compare, taking everything we learned from that product and elevating it into a more intelligent, more personalised solution.

Q. What problem does Copilot solve for recruiters and talent acquisition teams?

RG: Recruiters and TA leaders are time poor and under constant pressure to deliver results while staying within budget. Copilot solves the problem of wasted effort and risk in evaluating technology. It quickly narrows down the market to the solutions that genuinely fit an organisation’s needs, saving significant time, reducing risk, and ensuring the best fit vendor is chosen.

Q. How does Copilot differ from your previous product Rectec Compare?

RG: Rectec Compare provided a comprehensive, side by side analysis of recruitment technologies. Copilot takes that concept further by combining data with intelligence, guiding buyers through a personalised journey with tailored recommendations. Compare gave you the “what,” and Copilot provides the “why” and “which.”

Q. There’s a lot of noise around AI in recruitment - how are you ensuring Copilot enhances human decision making rather than replacing it?

RG: That’s a really important point. Our mission is not to replace people but to empower them. Copilot supports buyers with insights and recommendations, but the final decision always rests with the human. By creating clarity from complexity, Copilot allows recruiters and TA leaders to make better, faster, and more confident decisions, without ever removing human judgement from the process.

Q. Can you share a bit about the development journey behind Copilot? What were some of the biggest challenges or surprises along the way?

RG: One of the biggest challenges was balancing sophistication with usability. We wanted Copilot to be highly intelligent under the hood, but effortless for the user. Another was ensuring the recommendations truly reflected the unique needs of each organisation, accuracy and trust were critical. The biggest surprise was the speed at which buyers engaged with it, we’ve seen immediate appetite from the market.

Q. Rectec is known for simplifying tech selection - is Copilot the next step toward simplifying day to day recruiter workflows too?

RG: Absolutely. We’ve always believed that the principles of simplicity and clarity shouldn’t stop at the buying stage. Copilot is the next step in bringing those values into recruiters’ daily workflows, by ensuring the technology decisions they make are built on strong foundations.

Q. You’ve built strong relationships across the recruitment tech ecosystem. How have partners and clients responded to the Copilot launch so far?

RG: The response has been hugely positive. Vendors see the value in being matched more precisely with buyers who are the right fit for their solution, while employers and agencies love how much time and uncertainty Copilot takes out of the process. Many have told us it feels like a real step change in how they approach tech buying.

Q. Looking ahead, how do you see tools like Copilot changing how recruiters operate in the next 12 to 24 months?

RG: I think we’ll see a shift towards smarter, data led decisions in recruitment tech buying. Rather than lengthy RFPs and endless demos, recruiters will expect fast, accurate, and tailored recommendations. Tools like Copilot will become the standard way of working, freeing recruiters to focus on strategy, people, and outcomes rather than admin.

Q. Finally, what’s next for Rectec? Any hints about future features or collaborations we should look out for?

RG: We’ve got some exciting developments in the pipeline. Without giving too much away, we’re working on features that will bring even more transparency to the recruitment tech market and support vendors as much as buyers. Collaboration across the ecosystem is at the heart of our approach, so watch this space.
