Taleo Corporation, the provider of on-demand talent management solutions, today announced that its recently formed Small and Medium Business (SMB) Business Unit continues to help SMBs, including Joie de Vivre Hospitality and MySQL win the war for talent. More than 900 customers have turned to Taleo's SMB Business Unit and implemented Taleo Business Edition™ and Taleo Hourly Express™.
Small and medium-sized businesses today face a number of challenges including the impending retirement of the baby boomer generation, appealing to a new generation of workers, growing pains and increased competition from multi-nationals for qualified talent. Businesses are also grappling with meeting multiple compliance-related requirements while trying to source for qualified candidates, including Sarbanes Oxley, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, SAS 70 and other employment-related regulatory bodies.
"With unprecedented growth planned for the coming years, Taleo will become an even more important component of our talent acquisition strategy," says Babak Dehnad, director of HR for MySQL, a popular open-source database company. "As an SMB with a global presence, we receive hundreds and hundreds of resumes on a daily basis, and many of them aren't a match for what we're looking for. With Taleo's innovative web-based solution, we're able to streamline our hiring processes, find the most qualified candidates, and ensure that we adhere to our internal and external compliance guidelines."
With Generation Y – a force of as many as 70 million – in full swing in the workplace, organisations are contending with how to deal with the new young, smart, and brash workers that want to work, but don't want work to be their life. Taleo's SMB Business Unit is appealing to this new "internet generation" of workers because it helps organisations better source and manage the applicant process and design their career sites to connect automatically with other internal and external audiences.
"As California's largest boutique hotel company, we consistently put a high premium on customer service and aim to provide the best possible experience for our guests," said Robert Banovic, Recruitment Manager of Joie de Vivre Hospitality. "We aspire to have a diverse and multi-generational employee base. With Taleo we're able to recruit and retain high quality employees across functions, without disrupting the workflow of our organisation, all while providing the superior service our guests have come to expect from Joie de Vivre."
Taleo's SMB strategy is supported by the latest research conducted by the Aberdeen Group on The Global War for Talent: Getting What You Want Won't Be Easy. In this report that surveyed over 600 businesses (71% of companies surveyed have fewer than 2,500 employees), it was found that 63% of "best-in-class" firms used an applicant tracking system vs. only 42% for "laggards." The research suggests that more and more SMBs are recognising the benefits of talent management solutions, and are adopting innovative solutions to empower hiring managers and recruiters.
"The formation of Taleo's SMB Business Unit underscores our commitment to small and medium-sized businesses," said Jason Blessing, group vice president and general manager, SMB, Taleo. "The main goal of our solution set is to help organisations find the candidates they need quickly, efficiently and affordably. Many of our customers are happy to be off the old 'paper, pencil, calendaring and spreadsheet' recruiting solutions on which hiring managers have traditionally relied. Whether our customers are challenged with a shortage of suitable applicants or too many applicants, we help them recruit the best potential employees from diverse industries including: healthcare, high-tech, professional services, recruiting, retail and financial services."
