Thirty-three teams of staff at Hays, the UK's leading specialist recruitment company, have embarked on the 2009 Global Corporate Challenge (GCC), in support of the largest employer health initiative in the world.

The GCC challenge received a huge response and has been embraced by staff of all levels at Hays. Each team member will record their daily efforts on a specially provided pedometer during 125 days of intense walking with milestones projected onto a virtual map – there is even an option to interact with the citizens of each country and learn about their customs.

Charles Logan, Managing Director at Hays, comments: "Hays takes the health and wellbeing of its staff very seriously and so we thought this would be an engaging and fun way to do our bit and encourage our staff to participate. I'm not entirely sure how far we'll get on our globe-trotting adventure but we'll certainly give it our best shot and hopefully shed a few pounds in the process!"
