Based on a recent Badbossology.com survey sponsored by Development Dimensions International (www.ddiworld.com), the majority of employees spend 10 hours or more a month complaining about or listening to others complain about bad bosses, while nearly one third spend 20 or more hours.

Organizations are losing hundreds of hours of productivity a month because of bad relationships between the boss and their teams, said Rich Wellins, Senior Vice President, DDI. Companies need to make better decisions about who they advance to leadership roles. And they need to realize that leaders need continual development in crucial skills like coaching, building teams, and engaging employees to avoid this type of negative feeling.

Specifically, when asked about time spend complaining about or listening to others complain about bad bosses in an average month, of the 587 people who completed Badbossology.com’s survey: 32 percent spend twenty or more hours; 28 percent spend ten hours; 30 percent spend three hours; and 12 percent spend thirty minutes.

A follow-up survey question, also sponsored by Development Dimensions International - a global human resource consulting firm - asks, Have you done any of the following to get revenge on a bad boss? This question’s four potential answers along with results to date are available at: http://www.badbossology.com.
