The Use of Social Media in the Workplace:

The increased use of social media in the workplace, often as a primary method of communication, has created doubt over what is professional and what is personal usage.  The recruitment sector is at the forefront of using social media for business purposes.  Employers and employees need to understand the legal risks associated with the online environment and the steps they should consider taking in order to protect their business.  Osborne Clarke has considerable experience advising recruiters on the impact of social media in the workplace and regularly acts on business protection issues.  This session will provide attendees with a briefing on the key considerations in this developing area of law.

Update on the Agency Regulations

The Agency Workers Regulations 2010 came into force on 1 October 2011 and have practical implications for suppliers and users of agency workers alike. These regulations aim to give agency workers enhanced rights when on assignment at a "hiring" company. Although this legislation is now in force, many companies who use agency workers are still unaware or confused about how this legislation may affect them. Osborne Clarke, the only law firm involved in consultations with the UK Government about guidance accompanying this legislation, will give an overview and update on the practical implications of these regulations as well as an opportunity for Q&A.
