Due to continued growth and success, Yorkshire based online recruitment company Blue Octopus have moved into new premises in the centre of Otley.
Started by Yorkshire brothers Chris and Liam Coleman, the ever expanding company are now celebrating their 5th year of business, delivering an award winning service to both clients and candidates.
Blue Octopus are now a well-known market leader in the recruitment industry and this continued success has recently attracted a range of prestigious clients such as Everest, Cats Protection and A4E.
The unforgettable name ‘Blue Octopus’ came about by accident, as Liam (Joint Managing Director) recalls; “I was speaking with Chris and accidently said - the world’s your octopus, (instead of oyster) and the name stuck. We both loved it and ended up going with it”.
This happy mistake has helped Blue Octopus establish a successful online recruitment service, delivering an honest online recruitment solution with a difference.
The opening ceremony for Octo House was held on Friday 23rd May and was attended by representatives of the company’s client base and officially opened by local MP Greg Mulholland.
Local MP Greg Mulholland had the honour of cutting the ribbon and prepared a speech to mark the occasion:
“I’m very thankful for the honor of opening your fantastic new office. Blue Octopus is a very well-known name in the area because of the success and expansion… and because of the ridiculous number of awards that they keep winning!” He further commented, “What you have done by bringing this beautiful building back into life shows how much you care about not only the business but about the town as well…it’s great to have you in Otley”.
He finished by saying, “…it’s thanks to companies like Blue Octopus that we are now seeing the economic recovery… particularly (with them) being in recruitment… that’s what we need”.
The ever growing Blue Octopus team were desperately in need of a new premises, with the appointment of five new members of staff in the last couple of months alone. Their new home, which has been refurbished and given a new lease of life, accommodates over 30 staff and there is still room for expansion within the team.
“Moving into a landmark building like this has been fantastic for the business” said Chris Coleman (Co-Founder and Director of Blue Octopus) “It’s a very proud moment for me, my brother Liam and the business. I would also like to thank our suppliers and our staff”.
