The video games industry is worth an estimated £105 billion worldwide and employs some 27,000 people in the UK alone, most of whom work in technical roles.

The industry is expected to grow a further 10.6% per year between 2011 and 2014 This growth creates demand for talent, particularly as games are becoming more complex and requiring larger development teams.

In order to keep recruitment costs under control publishers and developers are increasingly bringing some or all of the recruitment function in-house. Using direct methods to source and hire staff helps to reduce their cost-per-hire.

However, the resources and recruitment tools available to the industry are lacking in some areas when compared to other industry niches. There is currently no established, independent, dedicated job board targeting games industry professionals worldwide that has achieved global prominence and widespread uptake by the industry. The closest alternatives are the job sections within some of the main games industry news websites.

GamesJobsDirect.com aims to change this. Owner and founder, James Squires, has a track record of success in the job board and recruitment industries and founded one of the UK’s leading job board development companies in 2007. According to James “There is a gap in the market for a world class games job board and we aim to fill it. We will be working closely with the industry to develop a solution that fits its specific needs and adds great value to the recruitment process”.

Games industry employers and recruiters will be able to tap into a relevant, global candidate pool using a range of tools from Branded Vacancy Advertising to CV Searching, Banner Advertising and Page Sponsorship opportunities.

The site is currently live in BETA mode and the official launch is planned for July 2011.
