Reduce your risk with due diligence

The government’s consultation on the regulation of the umbrella company market is a current hot topic for supply businesses. The proposals put forward are aimed at regulation of the industry, to address employment rights abuses and tax non-compliance.

A key proposal is for agencies to undertake mandatory due diligence, with potential penalties if this is not done. Whilst this is still at proposal stage it is a good opportunity for recruitment consultancies to get ahead of the game and perhaps review or undertake a refresher on due diligence as well as take on board the government’s thinking..

To help with this Lawspeed with be hosting a seminar on Thursday 27th July in conjunction with the authors of the consultation.

We will be covering the agency tax rules, managed service company rules (MSC), criminal finances, reputational damage and risk of tribunal claims, including under the Agency Worker Regulations, and, of course, the consultation as a whole. There’s lots to talk about and this will give you the chance to hear from the government departments involved in the consultation and to participate in discussion around the proposals as well as learning about self protection against risk.

The consultation is due to close on 29th August, so don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard, and to inform our response to the proposals.
