Recruitment software provider, Recruitive, has reported a rise in the number of job vacancies advertised within the public sector in November.
According to the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), more than 100,000 public sector jobs are expected to be lost over the course of this parliament; with Birmingham City Council already announcing that 1,200 jobs are to be cut in 2016. Despite the cuts the number of public sector vacancies advertised in November, via Recruitive’s multi-job posting solution, was 7.78% higher than the previous month.

Richard continues; “Over the past 12 months we have seen the number of vacancies posted to jobs boards, Universal Job Match and Public Sector Careers, increase by a massive 15% and 31% respectively. However it will be interesting to see what happens to the number of vacancies within the sector next year, especially once the new National Living Wage is introduced in April.”
A survey conducted in November by the professional body for HR and people development (CIPD) found that 21% of public sector employers say they plan to cut the size of their workforce as a result of the introduction of the National Living Wage compared to only 13% of private sector employers.
