Innovation in ICT Internet Recruitment

www.Change2IT.com is a new, innovative e-recruitment service for ICT positions that has been developed with the support of the eContent Programme of the European Union. Its aim is to increase the efficiency of e-recruitment for corporations and to combat the existing ICT skills gap in Europe.

Despite the downturn in ICT growth during the previous years, research conducted by IDC in July 2002, points to the fact that more than 1.64 million ICT positions are expected to remain vacant in Western Europe in 2004 due to lack of specialised personnel. Another study in Germany (Bott-Schade, FreQuenZ Band, 2003) concluded that 20% of ICT positions remain vacant half a year following their publication.

The ICT skills gap is mostly caused by the rapid developments that take place in ICT, the continuous emergence of new skills and the inability of the educational system to catch up with market demands.

The initial aim of www.Change2IT.com is to assist not only ICT people, but also alternative workforce, i.e. people with a different educational and professional background, to develop their careers, identify and develop the requested skills and find suitable employment in ICT.
Companies are already using alternative workforce very successfully. According to eSkills UK, 63% of the ICT workforce in the UK do not hold an ICT-related degree. However, there is no single service that targets this particular area of ICT recruitment.

www.Change2IT.com offers a wide range of services, from personality and skills assessment tests to e-learning, in order to assist candidates develop their skills and careers, and cover existing market needs.

More importantly, though, www.Change2IT.com offers a new e-recruitment model that can have a significant impact on the effectiveness of recruitment for corporations.

According to a recent research conducted by Workthing.co.uk in the UK, despite the fact that more and better candidates are using the internet to find jobs, employers are rather dissatisfied with existing services, as approximately 70% of them complain of low quality applications (in the form of irrelevant CVs), and high cost of application management.

www.Change2IT.com introduces a new model that is based on the automated targeting of vacancies only to the most suitable candidates, as opposed to their publication that is common to all existing services. It also offers a system of automated assessment and ranking of applications based on employersí criteria. This new model provides an added value service to corporations that can increase the effectiveness and reduce recruitment costs significantly.

More than 3,900 candidates looking for employment in ICT have already registered on www.Change2IT.com and 220 vacancies have been placed on the system. The service is currently available in English, German, Dutch, Greek and Portuguese.

www.Change2IT.com is currently looking for companies in Europe that would be interested to act as local representatives of the service.
