SURGING numbers of females at law firms has shifted marketing higher up the agenda and altered the way firms conduct their marketing activity, according to recruitment experts.

According to The Law Society *, 56% of new entrants to the profession are female. Over the last ten years the number of female solicitors has shot up by 117%, from 16,930 to 36819. There are now more than 6,000 female partners at UK law firms.

Jenny Cainer, at Marketing Professionals UK, recruits marketers for law firms:

As more women enter the legal profession and progress through the ranks the old marketing tools that were once so prevalent will diminish. Mirroring the rise of the female in the world of business, law firms will need to cater for this trend and fresher thinking is required.

The law is no longer a macho arena and it wonít be long before the íold boys networkí dries up and more innovative ways of targeting and securing new clients are needed. Gone are the days when marketing involved an annual round of golf and a late night glass of scotch with a client.
