In the space of 12 months, almost a third of Wolseley UK employees have been nominated by TFMAD - Burdens - James Dyer, Stephen O'Shea, Mark Stantontheir colleagues for special achievements, including the life-saving bravery of a Burdens driver.

Wolseley UK, which aims to have the best branch staff and provide excellent customer service,  introduced a recognition programme encouraging staff to nominate their colleagues for a reward when they achieve something significant.

Since its launch last April, the ‘Thanks for Making a Difference’ programme has said ‘thank you’ to more than 1,000 Wolseley UK staff and awarded vouchers worth a total of almost £30,000.

James Dyer, Sales Executive and Mark Stanton, Branch Manager at Burdens Warrington branch are shining examples of employees that made a difference when they courageously saved the life of a colleague who collapsed in the office due to blood flow restriction. James and Mark successfully performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the emergency services arrived. With the ‘Thanks for Making a Difference’ programme, their colleague Kerrie Ann-Horton was able to nominate them to be rewarded for their heroic behaviour.

Every month a selection of winners are chosen from the entries submitted by any of Wolseley UK’s 6,000 employees across the company’s 750 locations. They are then presented with a selection of high street vouchers.

Siobhan Morrison, Interim HR Director, Wolseley UK, said: “At Wolseley UK, our people are the heart of our organisation and we believe in showing our appreciation for the work they do. James and Mark are just two examples of the genuine characters we employ across the business and being peer-nominated really means something special. We are extremely pleased with how the programme has performed in its first year and hope this encourages our colleagues to keep going that extra mile.”

Wolseley UK is part of Wolseley plc, the world’s largest trade distributor of plumbing and heating products and a leading supplier of construction materials.
