UK Automotive Job Market Continues To Grow

Figures released by recruitment software provider, Recruitive, suggests continuing growth in the UK’s automotive job market

Figures released by recruitment software provider, Recruitive, suggests continuing growth in the UK’s automotive job market.

According to Recruitive, the cloud based jobs distribution and candidate management software provider, the number of jobs advertised within the automotive industry rose 136.7% from June 2013 to June 2014.

The increase in the number of job vacancies in this sector is indicative of the news reported by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT); that new car sales within the UK have risen to a 9-year high.  799 thousand vehicles were registered for the first time in Great Britain during quarter 1 2014, up 12.5% on the number during quarter 1 2013.

Richard Clarke, Managing Director at Recruitive comments; “According to numerous sources, Britons are feeling more optimistic about the performance of the economy and this is having a knock on effect on the automotive industry; more people are buying cars and this is creating more jobs within the sector.”

Clarke adds; “We have seen a month on month increase in the number of jobs advertised in the automotive sector with a record number in June.  We expect this growth to continue as analysts suggest that by 2017 the UK will be making more than two million cars per year, higher than the all time record of 1.92 million in 1972, and that by 2020 100,000 new automotive jobs will be created.”

Recruitive works with a number of employers within the automotive sector and on average is saving these companies in the region of 175 hours processing time each month for every 100 job vacancies.
