Top European political figures at Employment Week 2002

Leading European statesmen and political figures are taking part in Employment Week 2002, the top event for tackling issues on employment, economic development and training policy within the EC.

Employment Week 2002 takes place on 19th to 21st November at the Brussels Expo. Among those participating in the conference programme are;
Denmarkís Minister for Employment, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, who is taking part in the plenary conference session
Anna Diamantopoulou, Anna Diamantopoulou, Commissioner for Employment & Social Affairs, European Commission. who will take part in the Industrial Restructuring roundtable discussion.
Edith Bauer, State Secretary, Ministry of Labour of the Slovak Republic, in the Demographic Change roundtable discussion.
Maria Helene Andre, Confederal Secretary, ETUC, a speaker in the Industrial Restructuring roundtable.

Employment Week 2002 is planned in co-operation with the European Commission and under the patronage of the President of the European Parliament.

The main theme of the conference is Managing Change in the Labour Market. The four sub themes are mobility, industrial restructuring, work organisation, and the demographic change. This year, two further languages have been added and the conference will now be given simultaneously in five languages; Spanish and Italian, as well as French, German and English.

Running alongside the conference is an exhibition with stands representing organisations and companies from countries and regions across the EU. These include:
the Swedish ESF Council
the City of Malmo
East Midlands European Office & North of England European Office has confirmed - increasing the UKís presence.
Tuscany is represented through the regional council
Hungaryís Ministry of Labour will be present for the first time, as well as fielding speakers at the conference
the Junta de Andalucia and Gijon City Councils
Denmarkís Ministry of Labour
the Ukrainian Youth Labour Centre
the International Labour Organisation was among the first to book its stand at the exhibition.

Employment Week is organised by Tarsus Touchstone, part of the Tarsus Group plc, the international, integrated media group with interests in exhibitions, publishing and the internet. It is planned in co-operation with the Directorate General for Employment and Social Affairs, European Commission.
