The UK has in last year witnessed a revolution in online recruitment

says Russell Crisp, MCS

A survey conducted by Workthing.com this year on the e-recruitment industry revealed, ìthat online jobseekers are now more advanced than corporate recruiters in both their usage and expectations of online recruitmentî.

Russell Crisp, founder of the Exeter based e-recruitment solution provider MCS says, ìthe UK has in last year witnessed a revolution in online recruitmentî. A year ago the HR industry in this country was just realising that its function was evolving into a more strategic based decision-making unit.

Unfortunately the growth of e-recruitment in the UK has not shared the same extraordinary development as seen in the US. Less than half (42%*) of UK companies have an application form on their corporate career site, in contrast to the 6.3 million online jobseekers who have searched for jobs on corporate sites.

The statistics are even more depressing for the UK e-hr market, 85% of HR departments are still sorting CVís by hand, while a mere 31%* have invested in full Automated Tracking Systems.

The extensive outsourcing of HR functions to third parties in the UK has seen an increase of traffic (applicants sending their CV) to online jobboards such as Monster and Totaljobs (the number of applicants has tripled in two years from 17% to 46%*).

Unfortunately the number or unsolicited CVís that are sent to external jobboards are being brought into question in regards to the validity of qualified candidates for the job ñ 73%* of HR Directors complain of low quality applications in the form of relevant CVís.

Projectix from MCS features an applicant tracking solution (ATS) and CV management system that automates and streamlines many of the paper-based and time consuming tasks associated with the recruiting and hiring of candidates; it provides a fully searchable, database-driven career section for your internal intranet and external career portal. Russell Crisp (Chief Executive, MCS) says, ìA good ATS like Projectix will harness the power of the Internet and allow recruiters and HR departments to find the human resources that will integrate and work to their optimum efficiency in the organisation î.

Applicant Tracking Systems such as Projectix reduce both ëtime-to-hireí and increase the likelihood of matching the right candidate to job ñ thus decreasing your employee turnover. The Workforce survey revealed that only 19% HR departments use online sifting and screening tools to ëfilterí unsuitable candidates from the recruitment stage.
