Team-teach first for Select Education

Nationwide education recruiter, Select Education plc, is offering its teachers specialist training in handling challenging behaviour in the classroom. Select Education, which supplies 10,000 schools and other education establishments, including Pupil Referral Units and schools for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties has initiated ëTeam Teachí training for teachers working through its Leeds office.

The Team-Teach course, which is recognised by local education authorities throughout the UK focuses on ways of handling difficult behaviour in the classroom through risk reduction strategies, positive handling and intervention techniques, using physical intervention as a last resort. Select Educationís Leeds Office organised the first course with the help of a local Deputy Head-teacher, Ralf Penny-Larter, of Greenfield School in Bradford. As a qualified Team Teach trainer, he led a 12-hour course which aims to help teachers in any environment where they are likely to encounter challenging behaviour.

Lisa Headford, Manager of the Select Education Leeds office, commented, ëSelect Education provides teachers, behaviour support workers and teaching assistants into a wide range of education environments. As part of our commitment to the principle of ëQuality ñ no compromiseí we felt that teachers should be able to take advantage of specialist training to help them in schools where behaviour might be particularly challenging, so that is why we have instituted these ëTeam Teachí sessions. Further courses will run later in the year.í
