Referral scheme brings technicians to Renault retail group

A vigorous and inventive technician recruitment programme run by the manufacturer-owned Renault Retail Group (RRG)

A vigorous and inventive technician recruitment programme run by the manufacturer-owned Renault Retail Group (RRG) has resulted in the successful recruitment of qualified technicians through personal recommendations, in the depths of the nationwide skills shortage.

In addition to advertising its UK-wide vacancies conventionally in national, regional and trade press, plus internally, RRG offers a 500 bonus to Renault Technicians able to introduce talented technicians to apply for vacant positions within the Group.

The Renault Retail Group is experiencing steady growth and is mid-way through a 22million refurbishment programme across its 22 branches in England and Wales. There are currently vacancies for approximately 30 qualified technicians within the Group ñ currently ranked twelfth largest by turnover in the UK according to Motor Traderís ëTop 200 Franchised Dealer Surveyí.

Acting Group Human Resources Director, Maria Chesterton, said: ìAlthough the numbers arenít huge, the personal recommendations we receive through our own technicians are very valuable. In comparison to the rest of the motor trade, we offer a very attractive employment package; clean and modern workshops, a generous contribution to our robust pension scheme ñ which includes a life insurance and critical illness cover element ñ and 24 days annual leave entitlement on starting work within the Group. î

Renault Technicians introducing a qualified motor technician into a position within the Group will receive 250 when the new Technician starts, and a further 250 after their new colleague has completed three months of employment. The referral scheme has so far resulted in a small number of technicians starting work at the Groupís 22 branches across the country.

The Renault Retail Group offers an extensive training programme for technicians. The introduction bonus scheme is open to qualified technicians who have completed a recognised apprentice programme.
