Recruitment specialists, Stopgap, named as one of top ten best small companies to work for

.

Stopgap, the marketing recruitment experts, has been named as one of Britain’s best small companies to work for, according to the Sunday Times. Stopgap was placed at number ten in the first Sunday Times index of the 50 Best Small Companies to Work For. This ranking was based on the responses of Stopgap’s employees in categories such as leadership, wellbeing and personal growth.

Stopgap scored particularly well on employee retention and motivation, with 80% of employees stating that they love working for the company, 82% feeling proud to work there and 83% feeling that they personally make a difference.

This positivity equates to a high quality experience for customers, with 95% of employees believing their clients are treated well. Furthermore, 82% express confidence in the capabilities of the members of their team.

The consultancy was also highly commended for it’s leadership, with 90% of staff feeling the company is run on strong principles and 80% believing that senior managers live the firm’s values. Claire Owen, Stopgap’s managing director and joint founder, was seen to be inspiring and ull of positive energy, and 93% of staff have a great deal of faith in her.

The company’s innovative benefits scheme also received praise - for staff who go the extra mile, points are awarded that can be saved for rewards such as beauty treatments and holidays. Stopgap’s entertainment programme was also seen as a bonus for employees, with the firm organising numerous events throughout the year, as well as marking individual birthdays with presents. In terms of charity work, seven out of ten employees do some charity work and paid sabbaticals are possible.

Claire Owen, Managing Director commented: We are delighted to have been placed in the top ten, mainly because it’s our people who voted for us! At Stopgap, we pride ourselves in being a great place to work and it’s fantastic news to see that we’re getting it right. We firmly believe that our people are our most important asset and try hard to ensure that working for Stopgap is a rewarding, positive and above all fun experience. It’s good to see that the old, rather negative image of recruitment consultants is being broken down by innovative, forward-thinking companies like ourselves who put their employees at the heart of everything they do, not their profits.
