Manchester-based recruitment agency, beRecruitment Limited, has revealed the secret behind its 95 percent success rate of newly-appointed candidates

Manchester-based recruitment agency, beRecruitment Limited, has revealed the secret behind its 95 percent success rate of newly-appointed candidates staying for over six months in their new roles.

Developed over 15 years, the Intelligent Behavioural Interviewing System (IBIS) looks at specific ’behaviours’, life experiences or qualities that would make a candidate fit into a specific role at a certain company.

For a general sales role, for example, beRecruitment would use IBIS to find candidates who are target-driven and competitive with high energy levels. A specific client may also require candidates with good attention to detail, good account management or journey planning skills that are better working alone, and/or as part of a team.

Carole Fossey, Managing Director of beRecruitment Limited and governing council member of Manchester Chamber of Commerce, explains: It is particularly important for managers to get the right person from the very beginning, even before the first interview stage. Interviewing the wrong person can be a time-wasting exercise for both candidate and client, and appointing the wrong person can prove a very costly mistake.

Using IBIS ensures that we match client and candidate in terms of both skills and culture. We have found that a skills match will get someone a job, but it is the culture match that will keep them in that job.

But just how foolproof is the system and can candidates cheat their way through to a job? Carole explains: The way the questions are phrased, it is very difficult for someone to effectively lie in an interview, as all the questioning is based on real events and requires detailed answers. The vast majority of candidates would not be able to come up with anything other than truthful answers.

We find this system is very effective, especially as candidates are becoming used to ’profiling’ tests and can often influence the outcome of these. Thanks to IBIS, our dropout rate, i.e. for candidates leaving within the rebate period, is less than 1%, and less than 5% for leavers in the first six months.
