Recruitment drive as firstpoint wins NHS endorsement

FIRSTPOINT Healthcare is launching a major recruitment drive for nurses after gaining NHS approval to supply all hospitals in the Leeds and Sheffield areas with staff.

Firstpoint, which has offices throughout the UK, has been named as an approved supplier for the Governmentís Northern and Yorkshire Regional Agency Project (RAP) which covers health trusts responsible for Leeds and Sheffield hospitals.

ìWe have already supplied these trusts with staff but the new RAP aims to make it easier for hospitals to meet their staffing needs since it identifies approved suppliers,î said Firstpointís chief executive John Court.

ìIt also gives set rates of pay per hour, outlines specific types of staff and defines employment terms so that all these areas are standardised across the region.

ìWe have built our reputation on providing highly professional and motivated staff and have a bank of experienced nurses but we will now be recruiting more staff to meet the hospitalsí needs.î

Firstpoint Healthcare offers staff flexible working and a package of benefits. Many of its staff work for the company on a full-time basis.

It has been supplying around 400 staff a week through its Leeds and Sheffield offices over the last few months but can provide almost double that if required.

The new RAP comes into effect on April 1 this year and will run for three years after which suppliers will be given the opportunity to extend for 12 or 24 months.

Firstpoint will be providing nurses of all specialities including healthcare assistants, health visitors, midwives and theatre staff.

Firstpoint Healthcare has already been approved to supply nurses to many NHS hospitals and trusts through the London Agency Project, the West Midlands Agency Project, the Eastern Agency Project and Trent Agency Project.

It is also renowned for enabling UK based nurses to work in Australia through a unique four-year sponsorship arrangement.
