Recruitment Corporate Challenge

For the first time ever, all the recruitment agencies in Crewe have participated in ’It’s a Knock out’ to battle their wits against each other while also raising money for the Jamie Hopley Trust Fund. On Sunday (8th August), Absolute Recruitment UK hosted ’It’s a Knock out’ for staff from local agencies at Crewe Alexandra Community Soccer Centre as part of a fun-day. Also supporting the day were Bob Champion and Crewe Alex FC.

’It’s a knock out’ entertained participants with fun competitions and races against the clock. The governing body for recruitment agencies the Recruitment and Employment Confederation has donated 500 vouchers as prize money and it’s Managing Director Gareth Osborne, was cheering participant agencies on the day.

The winner overall was FHM who wowed everyone with their Gladiator skills, football tricks and Rodeo Bull staying power.

Gareth Osborne, Managing Director of the REC said, These recruitment agencies have not only raised money for an extremely good cause but have also treated today as an opportunity for all team members to compete as equals within their teams - regardless of their organisational hierarchy or seniority.

Jamie Hopley is a nine-month-old baby, who was born with Antley-Bixler Syndrome. Although now living at home with his Mum and Dad - Natalie and Kenny - Jamie has spent most of his life so far in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital undergoing numerous operations. At just nine months old he is so far the oldest living survivor of the disease. In November, he will have to have his left foot amputated to enable him to walk in later life. Jamie’s condition causes skeletal mutations and means that he needs round-the-clock care. Whilst his family provide as much support as they possibly can, they need to raise funds to buy the equipment that will assist Jamie in living as normal a life as possible.

Absolute Recruitment UK is an agency that Jamie’s Dad, Kenny Hopley has worked for the past. Jessica Marshall explained why they rallied their competitors to join in the fun-filled day, We do our best to help all our employees when they need it, but never before have we seen a more deserving case than Jamie and his family, I’m proud that everyone within our company was happy and enthusiastic to devote two weeks of their time to organising this mammoth event.
