Recent important Legislation regarding the making of unsolicited sales and marketing calls

Opinion piece from Businesstelecomservices.co.uk

Recent important Legislation requires all Businesses making unsolicited sales and marketing calls to other Businesses to first check that the phone number is not registered with the Corporate Telephone Preference Service.

This poses serious problems for Business to Business Marketers, sales teams, and any company which makes unsolicited calls to other businesses, a number seen on a letterhead or web site, or even their own databases or contact management systems without first checking that it is not registered.

Businesses now have several choices:

1. Disregard the Legislation and risk a 5,000 fine and adverse publicity 2. Pay annual subscription fees to the TPS and buy their monthly updated lists 3. Pay a list-cleansing agency to outsource this service 4. Avoid list costs entirely by transferring outgoing calls to a National Telecom service provider with built-in Corporate TPS call-barring

Benefits of automatic call-barring:

1. No risk of fines as calls are barred at source and the service provider is held liable for any that leak 2. No subscription or list charges to impact your budget 3. No charge for the service as the Network is already programmed by the TPS database 4. No contract commitments or changes of phone number or equipment, and many additional features are available like homeworker registration, on-line call management, optional lower line rental charges, and others.
