Orion Group set to boost Scottish energy jobs market

International manpower company Orion Group is set to boost Scotland’s economic output with the availability of 40 renewables project roles in the central belt and across Scotland.

Job requirements with a major infrastructure services and engineering group mean Orion has the opportunity to recruit for permanent welders and platers positions. Experienced personnel are needed for fast growing renewables and energy projects.

Gary Scott, Orion Group’s regional General Manager, said: “We’ve been working with our client for several years and have built a solid reputation in delivering the best in class personnel to their key engineering projects in the oil and gas and shipbuilding industries.

“We’re aiming to help buck the current jobs trend caused by the many fluctuations in a number of Scottish industries in recent years with the recruitment of 40 new jobs.”

Welders for the roles should have experience in 6GR solid wire foot and Flux Core fill and cap. Platers are required to have good all round understanding and competence in the discipline. Orion Group is seeking candidates from a range of engineering backgrounds but experience of the oil and gas sector would be an advantage.

The creation of such a high number of jobs signals to Orion a positive change in the recruitment landscape in Scotland.

Mr Scott added: “We appreciate the industry has seen some challenging times of late however it’s promising to see a number of green shoots appearing. We’re encouraged by developments in the renewables sector and look forward to contributing more to this expanding market.”

The latest contract will be managed by Orion Group’s central belt office in Dunfermline.
