Online recruitment tool a winner

TurboRecruit - online job advertising and candidate management system.

When Centrelink was faced with the task of providing a cost effective and integrated solution for managing bulk recruitment, they found their answer in TurboRecruit, an online job advertising and candidate management system.

Developed by Sydney based RecruitAdvantage Pty Ltd (http://www.recruitadvantage.com.au/), TurboRecruit has been used since late 2001 by several leading recruitment agencies like Kelly Services, Manpower, Slade Group, ARS Recruitment, BTI Consultants, Talismen Group and IPA Personnel as well as Holden Group, Business Trends, Coca-Cola Amatil and Australian Department of Defence. It has been developed in response to market needs for a technology based solution to deal with every stage of the recruitment process apart from a face to face interview.

Recent surveys suggest posting vacancies on-line can attract a typical response of up to 150 applicants. Whilst advertising jobs through the Internet is a cost effective alternative to traditional recruitment techniques, the soaring cost of filtering applicants for interview has alarmed many employers and recruiters.

Centrelink National Recruitment Contract Manager, Steve Bond, said Centrelink had looked at a number of online recruitment tools before deciding on TurboRecruit. ìThe advantage we saw in TurboRecruit was, apart from managing job postings and capturing candidate responses, we were able to tailor the questionnaire to meet the needs of any given recruitment campaign,î Steve said.

The use of TurboRecruit allowed Centrelink to split the candidate pool among contracted recruitment providers who were then able to undertake online candidate assessments, including behavioural profiling. Additionally, much of the communication with candidates can be automated which reduces the administrative component of recruiting.

ìAn added feature is that we can monitor the progress of our recruitment campaigns online, in real time with access to a wide range of statistical data,î Steve said.

In addition TurboRecruit is compatible with all major job boards in Australia and New Zealand as well as several in South East Asia. This ASP based system is fully configurable to a particular client needs and can capture finesse of clientís recruitment process and provides advanced communication facilities including two-way SMS messaging. The program incorporates solutions which can be integrated with a clientís own software (like BondAdapt) or it can operate as a stand-alone system. A recruiter can send a vacancy advert to any number of job boards, and then collate the CVís in a customised database. TurboRecruit can also produce reports and analysis of which job boards provide the best quality candidates compared to their competitors, thus directing advertising budgets to the right sources.

Jafeth Rodrigues, MD of RecruitAdvantage said: ìRecruiters who have already adopted this system are increasingly advertising the fact that the first stage of assessment is an ìon-line interviewî. This method of assessment not only gives candidates an immediate insight into the skills required for the role, but it also enables recruiters to give feedback to applicants quickly by simply setting a required attainment level for the next assessment or interview stage.î

RecruitAdvantage did not stop there and since mid 2002 has been developing its flagship product RecruitAI, which can analyse a job specification and by using predictive modelling and Statistical Natural Language Processing it can read and rank CVís in order of their suitability based on over 40 criteriaís, including the pattern of the applicant work history. Additional features also include the ability to rank jobs against applicantís CVís, thus directing right candidates to the right jobs automatically. Licensed from San Diego based Burning Glass International, the patented technology has been incorporated to create ëRecruitAIí.

RcruitAI will completely eradicate the need for recruiters to maintain an up-to-date skills library as it can easily be integrated with an existing database and then continuously up-dates and stores new information. RecruitAI will also help specialist recruiters to diversify by suggesting skills for job adverts and searching CVís in a whole range of industries, offering a powerful advantage over competitors.

Davor Miskulin, MD of Resumo Pty Ltd and exclusive agent of Burning Glass International in Australia and New Zealand comments: ìBurning Glass patented technology has been extensively trailed in the USA and Canada, but we have been searching for some time for a suitable Australasian partner to introduce the product to local market. Although RecruitAdvantage is a newcomer to recruitment software, it has already pioneered more efficient ways of working utilising groundbreaking concepts and technology. Having made such impressive in-roads with Global brands such as Kelly Services and Manpower, we were eager to integrate Burning Glass with the existing RecruitAdvantage applications.

Recruitment is a competitive industry with increasing pressures to fill vacancies in record time, however more and more CVís are now received for each advert placed. To enable the recruitment industry to successfully adapt to the jobs marketís greater accessibility to vacancies via the Internet, new technology such as this will have to be adopted. The RecruitAI program will enable Australian recruiters to increase efficiency of online recruitment and may even trigger a technology lead revolution within the local market.î

TurboRecruit and RecruitAI software is powered by Microsoft based platforms and is compatible with any PC with Internet access. TurboRecruit and RecruitAI operate through the Internet, rather than traditional client/server configurations, so it does not require an expensive installation process or in-house technical backup.

TurboRecruit and RecruitAI software is available directly from RecruitAdvantage or Resumo Pty Ltd at prices starting from AU$250 GST per week for unlimited use.
