The Inland Revenue will be answering questions on online filing of Employer’s Annual Returns at the forthcoming Softworld HR & Payroll event (20 ñ 21 October 2004, NEC, Birmingham). Marie Gibbs, Business Advisor at the Inland Revenue will host a session on the first day of the event to explain all about the Government’s new online filing requirements for employers.

The Government wants to encourage employers to realise the benefits of using new technology. Large employers (250 or more employees) must file online from next year, and medium-sized employers (50 -249 employees) the year after. Small employers (fewer than 50 employees) do not have to file online yet, but can get up to 825 tax-free over five years if they file online.

The Softworld session will cover areas of the changes that employers may still be unsure about including: an overview of online filing, how to file online, a timetable of deadlines for employers, and more details about the tax-free payments for small employers. Visitors will find out how the new deadlines affect them, what services are available, and what they need to do to meet the new requirements.

Marie Gibbs said Online filing is quick, convenient and secure. And I’m really looking forward to helping people do it online and reap the benefits!

This is the first time that the Inland Revenue has addressed the visitors to Softworld’s independent education programme. The sessions run over both days of the event and focus on two specific streams: software selection and business focus, in addition to a daily breakfast briefing sessions on selecting and implementing systems.

As well as the educational programme, visitors to Softworld will find an exhibition of over 40 of Europe’s leading HR & Payroll software solutions providers. The event runs concurrently with Softworld Accounting & Finance, Softworld Business Integration Expo and Business Performance & Project Management (BPPM) Forum. Visitor badges will allow a cross-over between all four events.

Upon arrival, pre-registered visitors will receive a free Softworld Buyers’ Guide to HR & Payroll, Accounting & Finance and Business Integration (RRP 195) solutions, the definitive source of information and indispensable reference tool for those involved in the buying and selection process.

Visitors arriving at Softworld before 11am will also receive a complimentary coffee and pain au chocolat to start their day! For more information, or to pre-register for Softworld, please Tel: 07000 763 896.
