NUT welcomes merger of supply teacher providersÖ..

Eteach UK acquires GO-teaching

Eteach UK Limited, the company behind the UKís number one education recruitment website, has announced its acquisition of GO-teaching. Both companies provide supply teacher management services to Local Education Authorities and schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Steve Sinnott, Deputy General Secretary of the NUT, commented: ìIím delighted to hear about the merging of the GO-teaching and Eteach businesses. This is exciting news for NUT members working as supply teachers. Not only will it provide teachers with increased opportunities to work directly for LEAs rather than for agencies, but it will also mean that they can look forward to better working terms and conditions, with national rates of pay, together with access to the Teachersí Superannuation Scheme.î

News of the announcement has been warmly received by Secondary Heads Association General Secretary, Dr John Dunford, who said: ìThis is good news for secondary heads who will be able to find supply teachers online within minutes. Schools will have the confidence that these rapidly accessible supply teachers are vetted to LEA standards and this will significantly reduce their dependence on agency personnel.î

Paul Howells, CEO of Eteach UK Limited, explained: ìThe merger will allow schools to benefit from the combined strengths of our two organisations; GO-teaching specialises in providing managed supply teacher services to more than 25 LEAs across the UK. Eteach provides the leading online recruitment platform for both supply and permanent staff, used by over 9,000 schools and 58 LEAs in the UK.

ìThis combined business will utilise Eteachís leading technology platform to deliver 21st century recruitment solutions to schools and teachers.
We believe the new company will be the UKís largest supplier of online education recruitment services, mobilising more than 7,000 supply teachers and advertising thousands of permanent teaching posts per month.î

Denis Burn, MD of GO-teaching added, ìGO-teaching and Eteach have always shared a common purpose which will undoubtedly help our cultures work effectively together; we are both committed to the efficient supply of quality staff to the education sector. Using Eteach technology, we will be able to reduce overheads, ease pressure on school budgets and stop the erosion of supply teacher salaries. Both Paul and I are driven by the desire to ensure teachers ñ especially those in supply work - get a fair deal.î
