to launch student-athlete focused website

Student-athletes at NCAA member schools will soon have a new tool to help them with career guidance and information about a range of job opportunities. While the core function of NCAA CareerCoach is to assist student-athletes with career exploration and help those nearing graduation with job searches, any student can access the site for career guidance.Monster has made a commitment to intercollegiate athletics that will benefit student-athletes in a practical, real-life way, said NCAA president Myles Brand. This is a great example of how a corporation can share its core business purpose and values to benefit higher education and the more than 360,000 student-athletes who participate in college sports each year.NCAA student-athletes who sign up for the website will have access to an assortment of resources designed to enhance their ability to make the right career choices during and following their collegiate experience. These include career planning and career development best practices; guidance regarding networking; job interviewing and resume writing tips; and interactive tools like the Major to Job Converter and Virtual Interview. NCAA student-athletes also can post their resumes and search for employment opportunities in their field of interest.NCAA CareerCoach will also feature targeted links to MonsterTRAK, a leading career resource for college students and alumni, and a product of Monster.

Student-athletes are able to register on MonsterTRAK directly from the NCAA CareerCoach website, gaining access to an additional database of entry-level job opportunities, specifically targeted to their school.Since joining the NCAA’s Corporate Partner Program, Monster has benefited from the opportunity to help thousands of student-athletes embark on their post-collegiate careers, said Steve Pogorzelski, president of Monster, North America. Now, NCAA CareerCoach will offer these job seekers even easier access to a wide array of career resources and services designed to help them succeed in finding the perfect job.Brand added, Monster and CBS have connected the corporate world to higher education in a way that puts commercial relationships to work for students and student-athletes.

The website also includes grant and scholarship information detailing the guidelines for several NCAA programs, including school-administered athletics scholarships, the Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship Program, and the Ethnic Minority & Women’s Enhancement Postgraduate Scholarship Program, among others.Monster officially joined the NCAA’s Corporate Partner Program in April 2003, signing a multi-year contract with CBS Sports. CBS Sports owns the rights to market the NCAA’s marketing and licensing programs on behalf of the NCAA.

Monster has the rights to use the NCAA marks throughout the United States. It also has the ability to associate with all of the NCAA’s 88 national championships in 23 sports through advertising, promotional initiatives and marketing and licensing programs.
