MSNBC.com Unveils Classifieds

MSNBC.com has launched MSNBC Classifieds, a comprehensive online trading post rivaling the print classifieds of newspapers

MSNBC.com has launched MSNBC Classifieds, a comprehensive online trading post rivaling the print classifieds of newspapers. Users will be able to visit MSNBC.com to not only read their news at MSNBC.com, but also browse online classifieds in five categories: jobs, real estate, cars, personals, travel and merchandise.

With partners including CareerBuilder.com, Cars.com, eBay, HomeGain.com, Match.com and Expedia.com, the new MSNBC.com classifieds are positioned to offer users unparalleled access to the Internet economy, all from a single source, the company said in a press release. At the same time, partner companies will gain more exposure to MSNBC’s broad audience base.

With the economy and job market improving, the new career center is a valuable component of the MSNBC.com Classifieds Channel, says Charlie Tillinghast, general manager and publisher of MSNBC.com. MSNBC is a leading Web destination for breaking news and information and working with CareerBuilder.com, one of the top online recruitment resources in the country, our users will be able to leverage the expertise of both organizations to drive their businesses and careers forward.

The initiative creates a new revenue channel for MSNBC.com, which marked its entry into profitability in its fourth quarter of 2004 on the strength of brand advertising sales.
