Monster and Stemettes brings together 1,600 young women across the UK to inspire STEM confidence

Monster.co.uk today announces Monster Confidence, a strategic initiative with Stemettes, an award-winning social enterprise focused on getting girls and young women into STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects and careers.

Monster and Stemettes will bring together 1,600 young women from across the UK to provide inspiration and guidance around pursuing STEM-related careers.

There will be four free Monster Confidence events this autumn in Glasgow, Belfast, Birmingham and Cardiff, where young women aged 15 – 22 will have the opportunity to network, learn and build confidence in their skills in order to find their dream job.

Attendees will take part in workshops on areas including online reputation, interview skills and presenting, as well as hear from inspirational speakers from STEM sectors. There will also be opportunities to take part in speed mentoring sessions and pick the brains of industry experts during panel discussions.

There will be separate activity streams for 15-18 year olds and over 18s. Attendees have the option of registering for either a half or full day session at the following locations:

Sinead Bunting, Marketing Director UK & Ireland at Monster.co.uk, comments: “The UK is fast approaching a digital skills crisis, and with just 14% of UK’s STEM workforce being female[1], it’s clear more needs to be done to get women into the sector. We want give young women the confidence and advice they need to tackle the world of work head on. Partnering with a fantastic organisation like Stemettes gives Monster the opportunity to speak to young women as they start out on their career path, letting them know that anything is possible. With help from some of the UK’s most inspiring female STEM leaders, we hope attendees can realise their huge potential, nurture their skills and pursue a career they love.”

Anne-Marie Imafidon, Stemettes, comments: “We’re thrilled to partner with Monster to run this series of events across the UK. Our joint hope is to inspire and motivate as many young women as possible to get involved in this growing and dynamic sector.”

Attendees will also receive career support and advice following the events via a dedicated mobile app and through an online community.
