LinkedIn unveils updates to recruitment tools

LinkedIn last night unveiled a number of new product updates for recruiters and HR professionals - Internal Job Recommendations, Recruiter Profile 2.0, enhancements to the Recruiter Mobile app and a new Android app

LinkedIn last night unveiled a number of new product updates for recruiters and HR professionals - Internal Job Recommendations, Recruiter Profile 2.0, enhancements to the Recruiter Mobile app and a new Android app.

Internal Job Recommendations

According to LinkedIn's recent Exit Survey, which surveyed 7,530 LinkedIn members across multiple markets who had recently changed jobs, career advancement is the main reason why employees change jobs. And with 85% of the workforce, including those that are "satisfied" with their jobs, either actively looking for a new job or open to talking to recruiters, it's essential that companies do all they can to retain their best and brightest - that means taking a strategic approach to internal hiring.

That’s why LinkedIn has created Internal Job Recommendations. It increases employee awareness of internal job opportunities by placing jobs in front of relevant employees as they begin to network or look externally. Internal Job Recommendations will appear in the “Jobs You May Be Interested In” module on LinkedIn.com, corresponding emails, and even on members' intranet via our new Internal Job Recommendations widget.

Recruiter Profile 2.0

LinkedIn Recruiter’s new Profile page, which is the most viewed page within Recruiter receiving nearly one million member profile views per day, is the next step in redesigning Recruiter. Its design is more modern and intuitive and gives recruiters easier access to rich member information, which helps to quickly find the best person for the job.

  • Recruiter Toolbar -- Saves member profiles to clipboards and projects, adding notes and attaching work files, in one place. The toolbar is anchored to the upper right hand corner making it easily accessible while scrolling up and down member profiles.
  • “Similar Profiles” Module -- This algorithm analyses the profile being reviewed and recommends very similar member profiles by comparing facets like skills and expertise, education and even career trajectory.

The roll-out of the profile page to English-language customers will be completed by the end of April, followed by a roll-out in other languages by the end of May.

Recruiter Mobile Enhanced iPhone App and New Android App

Following the success of the Recruiter Mobile iPhone app, which launched in October, LinkedIn last night announced an enhanced version as well as a new native Android App.

The new native Android App includes the core features of the enhanced iPhone app -- conducting searches and filtering results by location and team activity, sending and receiving InMails, adding notes, sharing member profiles with hiring managers and managing member profiles in projects. Plus, iPhone app users can now view attachments in InMails.

David Cohen, senior director, LinkedIn Talent Solutions Northern Europe comments, “Today’s announcements mark the latest stage of LinkedIn’s continuing work to create tools that make our members and customers more productive and successful. As technology natives enter the workplace, m-recruitment is increasingly vital as part of a company’s talent acquisition strategy. Through the enhancements and additions that we have made to our Recruiter Mobile app, recruiters will be able to easily engage potential candidates on-the-go."

"We are also really excited to announce the launch of Internal Job Recommendations. Career advancement is the number one reason people leave their jobs; with this product we want to help companies retain and develop great existing talent by streamlining their internal hiring processes. The recommendations make it easier for employees to see potential career opportunities at their existing company, going some way to help reduce the loss of great talent," he added.
