Launch of Europes Biggest Ever Health and Safety Campaign Building in Safety

Photocall and Press Conference

On behalf of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, we would like to invite you to attend the launch of Europeís biggest ever health and safety campaign Building in Safety on Friday 30th April 2004 at 11:30am at Croke Park (Gaelic Sports Stadium) Dublin, Ireland.

As part of Irelandís Presidency of the EU, a press conference will take place to unveil details of a major pan-European campaign to promote health and safety in the construction industry in over 30 European countries. This launch event is being staged in the Irish capital on the eve of the major EU accession event, the Day of the Welcomes, on Saturday 1st May 2004.

Senior European and Irish political leaders and officials will attend the event, including the President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox, the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister), Bertie Ahern, and European Health and Consumer Affairs Commissioner, David Byrne. The Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and the Chief Executive Officer of the Irish Health and Safety Authority will also attend, as well as representatives of unions and employer organisations.

The Building in Safety campaign, which is the largest ever campaign of its kind, will culminate in the annual European Week for Safety and Health at Work (18th-22nd October 2004), highlighting the health and safety risks in Europeís construction industry, as well as the solutions.
