Labour Ready UK recognized

for its achievements in delivering best practice HR solutions to its internal and temporary employee base.

Labour Ready UK, the British subsidiary of American temporary staffing company, Labor Ready Inc, (NYSE: LRW) was recognized this week for its achievements in delivering best practice HR solutions to its internal and temporary employee base.

Peninsula Business Services, have awarded Labour Ready their ëExcellence in Personnel Practiceí certificate, offer consultancy services in Personnel and Employment Law and have worked with Labour Ready over the last twelve months to ensure that every decision and document within the company represents the best the industry has to offer.

Peter Done, Managing Director of Peninsula Business Services said, ìWe introduced the gold awards about twelve months ago. This is really to recognize companies that used our system, took our advice, and basically followed the documentation conforming to the highest standards. In the view of our consultant, Labour Ready Temporary Services UK Ltd has reached these standards and we are highly delighted that we have been able to reward them for their endeavours in the area. As Managing Director of Peninsula I congratulate them. The award is well deserved.î

Jeff Norris, Managing Director of Labour Ready, responded, ìItís incredibly rewarding that Peninsula have chosen to recognize us in this manner. Our commitment to excellence in everything we do is absolute. Clearly, given the nature of our business, personnel management is critical to us. We want every member of our team, both permanent and temporary, to have confidence that we will deal with them in a fair and equitable manner at all times and under all circumstances.î

Labour Readyís partnership with Peninsula is just one of a number of initiatives aimed at raising the bar in how they deal with their permanent and temporary employees. In the early part of 2003, Labour Ready committed that all of its 53 Branch Managers would receive the training required to sit and pass the examination for the RECís Award in Recruitment Practice. Labour Ready have advised that this has now been achieved and, on the basis of its success, have extended access to REC training to their entire team. Momentum continued in to 2004 with Labour Ready developing a further partnership with recruitment industry training consultants, Lander Associates. Throughout the year Labour Ready will be delivering a bespoke Performance Management training program to all Branch Managers and tenured employees in a bid to increase, not just individual effectiveness, but employee confidence in their own abilities.

Dealing with a well-trained and supported consultancy is a distinct advantage to anyone seeking temporary work. However, in March of 2003, Labour Ready extended their training program directly to their temporary workforce. Currently, up to 500 of sponsorships are available, without catch or obligation, for Labour Readyís temporary workers to gain the CSCS accreditation they will need to work on many of the UKís construction sites.

Norris explained, ìWe believe an extensive commitment to training, in tandem with the kind of support we receive from companies such as Peninsula, gives everyone involved an increased sense of worth. Moreover, we believe that initiatives of this kind make equally sound business sense. Quite simply, weíre now reaping solid dividends from the positive results these initiatives bring to our business and, principally, their impact on the companyís bottom line.î

Labour Ready has 800 offices in The United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and 53 offices throughout the United Kingdom.
